Welcome!

Last updated: 24 November 2008.

Here you can listen to my versions of some songs made famous by Frank Sinatra. I will be adding Tony Bennett and others shortly (see images below). Sometimes these songs are referred to as The Great American Songbook. Most, but not all, do originate from the USA. Here also, if you wish, you can contribute to a fund towards cancer care and research in your own country. So far links are provided to Cancer Research in the UK, United States, and Canada. If you would like me to add your national cancer charity here please let me know and I'll be happy to include it.

Why Songs For Life?

Two reasons!

1. These songs are eternal, they will never die, so they truly are songs that will live for all of our lives and beyond.

2. I hope that -via this website - the songs will help to fund care and research to prolong the lives of cancer sufferers.

What's It All About?

I am a keen singer and also a cancer sufferer. I am currently attending the Chemotherapy day unit at Singleton hospital in Swansea, Wales in the UK. This is intended to help me recover from Colon Cancer which has resulted in a secondary cancer of the liver. The two operations I have had in Swansea and Basingstoke for the Colon and Liver were done expertly and with the utmost care and professionalism under the UK's NHS of which we can be justifiably proud. The colon operation was 100% successful but the liver problem remained. The care I now receive by the staff under Professor Wagstaff, in the Oncology Department is exemplary. The nursing staff have to be compared to angels. On 17th April 2008 I was informed that the CT scan, following my chemotherapy treatment, plus Cetuximab, showed that the cancer had gone, a result that I never dreamed could happen after only 12 weeks of treatment. There were no guarantees of course but I could not have hoped for a better result after only 12 weeks of treatment.

Unfortunately, a subsequent CT scan in July showed that the cancer had returned but less in both size and quantity compared to last January, so I remain optimistic and positive.

Also I'm gradually including lyrics for you to display, print or copy. If it's shown as a link the lyric is available.
